MUNCH CATERING

Munch Catering began with Ben Batterbury happily unleashing the apron strings after ten successful years as the Executive Chef at the Rees Hotel in Queenstown. As well as being awarded Hotel Chef of the Year in 2017 Ben has picked up numerous accolades over the years, as well as being a New Zealand Beef and Lamb Ambassador.

His refined recipes and meticulously crafted menus include both British and French influences as well a clear passion for the Mediterranean style of eating – all crafted using the South Island's top ingredients, personally sourced through his network of brilliant Central Otago suppliers who share Ben’s love of quality.

Branding & Copywriting

It was an absolute pleasure working with Ben to help him launch his new venture to the world. This project involved helping with a number of aspects of basic marketing elements. Ben has numerous accolades, a passion for fresh, regional produce and an approachable manner Gordon Ramsay would be envious of… My job was to put all these brilliant elements into words for his new website. From highlighting Ben’s credentials in a way that invoked trust rather than inviting feeling of snobbery, to ensuring Munch Catering’s cheeky and amenable sentiment didn’t mask the company’s culinary expertise.

Services, Menus & More

From working through the Products and Services on offer after some local market research to formulating target markets. We built a suite of services to appeal to individuals, businesses, holidaymakers and event planners. Services covering chef-cooked breakfasts, to working lunches, bespoke barbecues and private dinner parties. Throughout these keeping Munch Caterings key credentials front of mind - Local, Trusted, Acclaimed. Menus and the words surrounding them had to stay true to Ben’s key passion – to keep things Fresh, Seasonal & Delicious.

Social Media Set Up

The next step involved getting these messages out to the world through channels that were both relevant and affordable. We set up Facebook and Instagram pages – top social networks both for the region and more broadly for the visual content Ben would be creating. After a number of posts to get the pages started, gaining some initial followers and a crash course in tagging and hashtags, the channels are now managed in house and going from strength to strength.

Positive Feedback

Setting up these basic marketing aspects and social media platforms has enabled Munch Catering to share all the brilliant content they have been creating – from private chef-cooked dinners, to wedding catering and most recently takeaway lockdown Friday Fish & Chips for the local neighbourhood!
